Leisure events in Paris
- Seine Cruises
For an original Paris visit, enjoy a boat ride on the Seine on one of the famous “bateaux mouches”.
Leaving from the Eiffel Tower or the foot of Notre Dame, the crew will welcome you aboard for a one-hour cruise on one of the fleet’s three trimaran boats. Fully enclosed in glass, with a rear terrace and outside passageways, they are perfectly designed for discovering and admiring the capital’s architectural treasures. You will be given a guided tour of the heart of historic Paris, admiring the beauty of the banks of the Seine, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Clear, lively commentary, with words and music evoking the places and periods visited, is broadcast through individual handsets.
Leaving from the Eiffel Tower, a one-hour cruise between the Pont d’Iéna and the Pont de Sully, a guide-lecturer gives historical commentary that is richly documented and including many anecdotes, explaining the “history and architecture of Paris’ bridges”. For even more fun, you can have lunch or dinner at the new riverside restaurant, the Café Seine, and take advantage of an exceptional location at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
You can also share a fun visit with your children by choosing the Enchanted Cruise for a one-hour trip on a panoramic boat, where songs and games await them. But you can also choose to privatise one of the boats for your own customised tour!
And to discover an illuminated Paris by Night, there is nothing like a night cruise which can also become a romantic getaway in the heart of Paris.
Another variation on the boat theme is also possible: the Batobus system gets you around the city. These river shuttles make several stops along their route, leaving you time to visit the various sites at your own pace. Batobuses notably stop at different key points around the capital: the Eiffel Tower, Musée d’Orsay, St Germain des Prés, Notre Dame, the Jardin des Plantes, the Champs Elysées, the Louvre and the Hôtel de Ville. They run every 15 to 30 minutes. The Batobus company lets you cross Paris all day long, providing you with seats on the rear terraces of the boats so you can admire the exceptional view along the banks of the Seine.
Near the main Batobus stops as well as the cruise boat embarkation points, you can find a perfect place to stay at the Hotel Bourgogne&Montana, located not far from Pont Alexandre III, the Musée d’Orsay and the Place de la Concorde, while for visits focusing on the St Germain des Près quarter, you can put down your anchor at one of our three left-bank hotels: the Madison Hotel, Hotel de Buci and Artus Hotel.
