This famed collection, put together by Nasser D. Khalili, is a chance to discover Islamic art produced between the 7th and 20th centuries. It is not limited to a single country or ethnic group, but a far-reaching civilisation, a world in itself. With its focus on ornamental representation as opposed to figurative, Islamic art evokes such themes as sacredness, wisdom and destiny.
