The history of the famed Galeries Lafayette goes back to the year 1895. That year Théophile Bader and Alphonse Kahn put together a fashion designer workshop known as Aux Galeries Lafayette.
The central cupola was raised in the 19th century sporting a Neo-Byzantine style and today the whole building boasts a floor space of 47 000m² and stunning architecture.
This temple to fashion at first exclusively selling clothes and accessories has since branched out into household items and gourmet grocery. Come Christmas the entire building is awash in fairy lights and decorations and throughout the year there are special events and sales that add another layer to the already irresistible temptation of shopping there…
